Icomm's bid to cut out network failures for SMEs
West Midlands IT service and support firm Icomm says it is helping SMEs across the region with a system aimed at reducing unexpected network failures.
Nearly 80 per cent of businesses consider the inability to access important information to be a critical or serious concern, with downtime directly affecting productivity.
Icomm’s Ian Callens said: "Continuity is often top of the agenda for SMEs and now more than ever they are looking to outsource highly skilled functions to help reduce costs and increase productivity.
"Outsourcing IT management and support allows staff to focus on their core roles such as administration and accounting, thus increasing the efficiency of the workforce.
"Our SpirIT solution has been developed to automatically and remotely manage networks 24/7, enabling us to monitor trends in the network environment and highlight performance issues prior to a system failure."
According to Mr Callens, issues commonly arise when staff who lack adequate technology expertise manage networks.
"Many SMEs allow employees access to their networks when problems arise, ranging from email issues and problems to server malfunctions.
"Businesses feel they are cutting costs by utilising staff who have some knowledge of IT but non-specialists could be doing more harm than good, ultimately costing the business more in the long term."
